Study Topic For October Meeting

You are invited to bring a display on 'Your Favourite Subject'. This can be any number of sheets up to a maximum of 18 (two frames worth).

Most of us have a favourite aspect of Sudan related Philately. Perhaps it's the 'Provisional Issue', maybe just one stamp like the '4½ Pastries on 5 Milliemes small camel', or 'Paquebot Covers', or something related to 'Mail from a particular army officer or regiment'. Whatever it is please bring it, or at least a sample, along for us to see and enjoy.

This should generate lively discussion and maybe answer a few questions along the way.

Conference

A highlight of the Group’s activities is the conference held every two years, usually at a hotel in the provinces. It gives members and guests the opportunity to participate in a specific study topic, to view and discuss displays by leading Sudan philatelists and postal historians, display items from their own collections, take part in a competition, live auction, bourse and exchange information during a residential weekend.


Meetings and Events
Meetings The Group holds meetings twice yearly, in April and October at the Union Jack Club, Sandell Street, Waterloo, London, near Waterloo Railway Station. Meetings are informal, start at 1.30 p.m. with a live auction and are followed by displays by members on a set theme or topic. It is a good opportunity to discuss the material displayed and ask questions about any aspect of Sudan stamps and postal history. Non members are most welcome at a meeting if they are interested in joining.

The last conference was held on 17th to 19th April, 2009 at the Charlecote Pheasant Hotel, Charlecote, Stratford-upon-Avon. London 2010 The Group will also be represented at London 2010 from 8th – 15th May, 2010 by sharing a Society table with the Egypt Study Circle to provide a focal point for Sudan and Egypt collectors to meet.
